My father (Richard Wiener) was a legend at Von Steuben High School in Chicago, Illinois (Class of 1964). He attended the school, stood out as a hall of fame athlete, and after graduating, returned as a teacher, coach, athletic director and then substitute teacher. A deep passion for helping students at his alma mater led my father to start the Von Steuben Alumni Association with just a $50 dollar bill in his pocket. Thirty years later, the alumni association he formed awarded almost One Million Dollars in scholarships to Von Steuben graduates.
After my father’s passing, I started trying to raise money to create a college scholarship in his name. The support I received was overwhelming with almost 300 generous contributions. This prompted me to consider how to best ensure my father’s legacy of helping students pursue their dreams of attending their college of choice has a lasting impact. This led me to create this year the RICHARD WIENER FOUNDATION, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing college scholarships to deserving students.
Today, I'm asking you to join the inaugural fundraising campaign for the Richard Wiener Foundation to benefit graduates of the Von Steuben High School's Class of 2025. I'll personally match all contributions dollar for dollar up to the first $2,500.
There are a variety of giving options listed below and your contribution will be tax-deductible.
Thank you for considering a contribution to honor my father's memory and help ensure his legacy endures for years to come.
With gratitude,
Chad
