_What does the PTA do for the school?_
The PTA works with parents and faculty to organize and facilitate events both during and after school hours that serve to enrich our children's educational experiences and build a stronger community. Some of the programs PTA helps support include: Teacher Luncheons, Mother Son Event, Field Trips, School Programs, Daddy Daughter event, and Family Engagement Events throughout the year. In the past our PTA, along with your help, has raised funds for both the School Science Lab and the purchase of our Book Vending Machine!!
_Can I be a member and work full time?_
Yes! Many of our members hold a full or part time job. A member simply allows you the ability to vote at our general meetings. In these meetings we discuss PTA sponsored events and approve upcoming budgets. **Being a member does not mean you are required to volunteer your time. We understand you are busy. You can choose to support PTA financially, with your time or both **
_Can anyone be a member?_
Our membership is made up of moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles! Really anyone who cares about Sanford Elementary and the students who attend here.
_PTA Membership sounds great but I am not looking to serve on the board. Can I volunteer somewhere?_
If you are looking to volunteer with events, baking something for a teachers event, contributing items for a event, helping or decor, Donuts with Dad, Muffins with Mom, The Book Fair, or The Penguin Shop......YOU need to sign our volunteer form. Any time there is a need to serve in an area of interest you will receive an email with a sign up link. We need you!!!
_I would like to be more than just a member. Any board positions available?_
Serving on our board or executive board may be for you! Positions come open yearly and we would love to have you serve on our board. Simply email** PTASanford@gmail.com** to find out more information. We will also post opening announcements on our** Facebook** and Instagram pages in the winter.
_If I serve on the board does it take a lot of time?_
Yes and no--it depends on the position. Some duties can be performed from home and some require your presence at the school once in a while. Some positions are seasonal and some require some effort for most of the year. Some positions work well if you decide to do them with a friend. Explore which position would be right for you. The time you donate to actively participate in your child's school is time well spent. It shows our children that we care about what they do every day.
