For the last 50+ years, Hauser Junior High School students have worked hard to collect and donate food to help in the fight against hunger! It’s hard to believe in such a wealthy community like Riverside that the Riverside Food Pantry supports 83 families, and that 19.9% of Hauser Students are eligible to receive free or reduced-price lunches, live in substitute care, or whose families receive public aid. Watch for opportunities to donate non-perishable food items at Hauser, North Riverside library, Riverside library, and Riverside Foods.
In conjunction with the annual Hauser Canned Food Drive, the Hauser PTO is again partnering with Outreach, Inc., an international 501(c) 3 non-profit, to co-host a week-long *Feed Our Community” event at Hauser Jr. High School and participating elementary schools.
ALL Hauser students, as well as participating elementary school students, will be packing meals this year during the school day, enabling each child to experience the joy and satisfaction of helping the less fortunate and even their own family. The meals packed, along with the food collected, will be delivered to the Riverside Township Food Pantry, Brookfield Share the Love Food Pantry, and the Salvation Army Red Shield Center Food Pantry in Englewood.
From now until April 21, 2023, we will be gathering monetary donations to support the cost of meal packing, $0.35/meal (goal 50,000 meals). Any additional funds will go to support our year round program, which involves our Hauser students delivering food monthly to our Riverside Food Pantry.
Please help us reach our goal, by donating below.
