Troop 149 invites you to go CAVING and cabin camping at Camp Tuckahoe's Castle!
SIGN UP REQUIRED by Sunday, October 27th & Waiver for caving due by Thursday, October 31st. We will meet at Cherrydale Methodist Church in Class A uniform on Friday, November 1st at 4:00 pm to load up the trailor and depart promptly by 4:30 pm with bagged dinners to eat on the drive. The drive to the campground takes about 2 1/2 hours. Accomodations are GREAT, and no need to pack a tent! Parent drivers will camp because we require your assistance on Saturday to get to & from Carnegie Cave . On Sunday morning , we are going to visit the Getttysburg National Military Park , Nutters (our favorite ice cream store) and then return to the Lorcom-side of CUMC around 3:30 pm on Sunday, November 3rd. Scouts will unpack the trailor together before they go home. It will be chilly, so winter jackets are required**, and long johns and gloves recommended**.
Grubmasters should plan for a non-perishable cave snack, warm food and beverages
Packing list:
Mess kit: plate, utensils, cup to hold warm liquid, and water bottle
Warm sleeping bag, fire-starter material (drier lint/match) and flashlight
Class B on Saturday (blue T-shirt ... please let ASM Bushnell know if you need one)
Warm clothes (it might be 50 F in the day, and 35 F at night)
Rain gear, just in case: we’ll still cave, camp and fish (unless there's thunder/lightning)
The cave is very dusty and muddy, so please wear clothing and footwear you don’t mind getting dirty. For Caving the following are required:
3 AAA batteries
Large trash bag for muddy clothes and footwear
Bandana (for comfort under the helmet)
Suggested Clothing: polypropylene or other non-cotton long underwear, wool socks, boots with good traction and ankle support, an insulating layer such as wool or fleece, a shell layer (water resistant), and thin gloves.
Small pack for your belongings
Complete change of clothes, including shoes, socks and underwear!
