Importance of Civic Engagement for Civil Engineers
Presented by Gaye Garrison Sprague, PE and Jonathan Thrasher, PE
Mrs. Sprague will discuss the importance of engineers' participation in elected and appointed government positions and give examples of opportunities. Mr. Thrasher will follow up with discussing ASCE’s Advocacy with the Key Contact program for public policy. In addition, he will discuss the use of Infrastructure Report card to educate the public and others on the importance of infrastructure.
Registration will close at 4 pm on September 27th. A link will be emailed to the virtual participants prior to the start of the meeting. Send cancellations to asceupstate@gmail.com prior to the registration deadline in order to receive a refund.
We are offering to order a boxed lunch - we will use those lunches to help streamline check-in. No extra lunches will be ordered. There will be no payments at the door the day of the event.
We have reviewed current guidance from the CDC and DHEC, and due to ongoing concerns associated with COVID-19, we will be limiting attendance to 50% capacity for this event. We will be monitoring registration and if adjustments need to be made to allow for more members or more non-members to register; we will do so but the total half capacity is 24.
As of August 11th, ReWa began requiring masks for all employees and visitors (regardless of vaccination status) while inside meeting rooms and all common areas. This decision aligns with current CDC and DHEC recommendations that everyone – regardless of vaccination status – wear a mask in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high transmission. Greenville County’s COVID transmission rate is “high”.
Masks are allowed to be removed in our common areas and conference rooms if people maintain a distance of 6 feet apart. Otherwise, for everyone’s safety, masks should remain on. We encourage social distancing and hand washing.
If you are attending in person, please also fill out and email the Visitor Health Screening to Gwen.Sollenberger@blecorp.com by 4 pm September 27th. This is ReWa's form and includes 3 health related questions about COVID (see attached). If you haven't filled out the form: upon arrival, you will need to check-in at ReWa's kiosk at the front desk.
