Unfortunately while we have reached maximum capacity and are no longer selling tickets to the dinner, we are still accepting direct donations to the scholarship fund on this website. In May 2020, just weeks before his high school graduation from Baboquivari High School on the Tohono O’odham Nation, Alex suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. Alex was a hardworking student with a wide variety of interests and talents, including a deep passion for automotive technology. He was working toward earning his ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification. He loved traveling to vintage and modern car museums and plants, enjoying races at the Tucson drag racing track, and exploring the latest innovations across the automotive world.
After Alex’s passing, staff at Baboquivari High School created a scholarship fund to transform the tragedy of his passing into hope. In recognition of Alex's love for automotive technology and the automotive industry, the Alexander Brooks Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior in BHS’s automotive technology program to support their postsecondary education costs.
To raise funds to support this scholarship into perpetuity for students at Baboquivari High School, we invite you to join us on May 1, 2025 for a delicious dinner catered by JTED Culinary Students, a performance by the Baboquivari Secondary Waila band, the presentation of the scholarship to this year's recipient, and more!
Tickets are $50 per plate. We are also soliciting sponsorships! Table sponsorships are $250. If you are unable to attend the dinner, we welcome direct donations of whatever amount you may be able to contribute. All proceeds will go toward building and sustaining this scholarship fund for students at Baboquivari High School. Donors and sponsors will be recognized at our event.
We appreciate any and all donations as we celebrate Alex’s lasting legacy and support O’odham students pursuing careers in the automotive field.
