Dear Friends,
In 1917, the Hasbrouck Heights Public Library opened to the public, originally located on Division Avenue and moved to the current location in December of 2003. This December, the library will celebrate 106 years of community service!
While the Library building remains largely unaltered, all activity within it has radically changed. Today, we loan mobile internet hotspots, thousands of e-books and audio books, we offer streaming movie services, book discussion groups for adults, along with innovative programs geared to the needs of teenagers and youth of all ages.
In a typical year, the Library is a bustling, vibrant center of community activity. And while we haven’t experienced a typical year in some time, we have reason to be optimistic. When the pandemic struck, the Library quickly shifted to virtual programming with a focused expansion of our online services, offered curbside pickup, and increased the purchase of e-content.
We are always appreciative of the financial support we receive from the Borough, while also relying on essential support from the Friends of the Library to fund programs and services not covered by our appropriated budget. However, the pandemic shuttered any fundraisers, which we are slowly re-incorporating using creative methods. The result is dramatically reduced funding for special programs, events, and services.
These are challenging times for all. If you feel able to contribute to the 2023 Library Annual Appeal, your donation will go toward continuing the excellent program of services that the Library has provided over the years. Contributions will help with the upkeep of cutting edge-technology, programming, and the purchase of items that will enhance the user’s library experience, and the continuing education and training of individuals. Please know that we appreciate all of you and your library patronage.
If you agree that the library is an important and necessary community resource, please consider making a tax-deductible donation. All donations will be used to further the mission of the library. In hard times and easier times, our community is our most valuable asset. You are welcome to donate via the following methods: our Cheddar Up donation link, stop by and drop your donation off at the front desk of the library or mail a check to the address above. Please make checks payable to--The Friends of HH Library Endowment Fund. We appreciate and value your continued support as we look toward a better, smoother future.
Sincerely yours,
