Scoutmaster Conferences and Boards of Review
In preparation for rank advancement, sign up for a Scoutmaster Conference (SMC) and/or a Board of Review (BOR).
No Scoutmaster Conferences will be held the same day as a Board of Review.
Scoutmaster Conferences provide a Scout a one-on-one discussion with a Scoutmaster (SM) or Assistant Scoutmaster (ASM) to review the Scout's recent Scouting Trail and to discuss next steps. A SMC is required before the Scout may request a BOR for rank advancement and may be called by either the Scout or the Scoutmaster. If a SMC occurs somewhere other than a group meeting place, youth protection policies must be followed. Scouts may have a conference with any available SM/ASM.
SMCs are required for all ranks in Scouting.
SMCs are typically held on the 1st Thursday of the month from 6pm to 7pm.
Boards of Review are held to review rank advancement. The Scout meets with the Review Board, which is comprised of Troop leaders. It ensures the Troop is delivering what the Scout needs to advance and that the program is running smoothly. It is not a test. A BOR must be scheduled ahead of time so enough leaders will be present to conduct the Review.
BORs are required for all ranks in Scouting except for the Scout rank.
BORs are typically held on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 6pm to 8pm.
