We are excited to announce that Marimba is back for the 2024-25 school year!!
The Sojourner Marimba Program, which is managed by the Sojourner Education Foundation, is a voluntary afterschool activity for Sojourner students in 4th and 5th grades. Practice is directly after school, from 2:15 –3:30 pm, one day a week (M, W, or Th), as well as one recess practice each week. You can also expect your child to participate in several performances (location varies). Parents are responsible for picking up their children promptly at 3:30 pm after practice, providing transportation to and from performances, and assisting with transportation of instruments as needed. Each year, the Sojourner Education Foundation estimates the per-student cost for Marimba. This includes staffing/instruction, administrative costs (insurance, etc.), and a Marimba t-shirt. Marimba fees may vary from year to year. For the 2024-25 school year, the per-student marimba fee will be $115 per student.
Before your child can participate, we ask that you do the following:
Signatures from both parents and students are required (return paper form)
Fill in the Marimba Permission Form (return paper form)
Submit your payment for the school year (online or cash/check to office)
Please return the contract, permission form, and payment by Thursday, October 3rd. Marimba is scheduled to begin the week of October 7th. You will receive an email from Shera Sinell by Friday, October 4th, letting you know which days your student will be practicing (one after-school and one recess practice).
We hope for every student who wishes to play Marimba to be able to do so! If you need a partial or full scholarship for your child to participate, please indicate this on the attached Marimba Permission Form. You may also select a payment plan. If you choose a payment plan, please send us an email (sef@sojournerschoolcommunity.com) with your intended payment schedule.
