The sea turtle collection is inspired by my time growing up on the coast of North Carolina. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of the many long nights I spent out on the beach with my mom on turtle watch. Every year my mom would adopt a sea turtle nest to care for as part of our local beach volunteer sea turtle protection program. There was no bedtime on the long watch nights and it was hard work digging the shallow trenches and roping them off only to have to fill them in again before dawn. I loved it...the time huddled up with my mom wrapped in a blanket on windy nights. I felt so big and special helping talk to all of the curious tourists who would wander by asking about the turtles and handing out the flashlight covers. Then there were the nights when the nest would actually hatch and "boil" out with what seemed like hundreds of adorable little turtles frantically scraping their way through the sand. Those memories of helping the baby sea turtles safely reach the ocean continue to inspire my work today. This if probably my most extensive collection with many variations and options from single pieces to full dinnerware sets upon request. The sea turtle series is by far my all time best selling pottery collection so I have set a pretty high monetary value of $3,000 for the sea turtle image in the frame of my "Dream Big" illustration. Once we sell enough items from the sea turtle collection to clear certain marked goals of $500 per flipper etc. I will color in the sea turtle image bit by bit.
