While we were blindsided and shocked by the district's closure announcement, the vocal turnout during the recent board meeting shows parents' commitment to protecting our children, preventing these changes and holding school officials accountable. Make no mistake -- this is a choice on the part of those officials, and it's one that would gut crucial parts of our tight-knit communities. It's bad for families, bad for educators and bad for Middletown.
