Girl Scout Silver Award Project

Gilena Hall, a rising 6th grade student, has set out to earn her Silver Award through her Girls Scouts program. The Silver Award is received by those who complete a community impact project from start to finish. During a spring flooring renovation, student lockers were removed and unable to be reinstalled due to safety concerns, leaving students without a place to keep their personal items and books while on campus.
With the help of her parents, Gilena researched various solutions and drew up a plan. She then presented it to a member of the administration staff where she received feedback and guidance to make final adjustments ensuring that safety and building considerations were accounted for. Now, with her plan approved, she is spending her summer reaching out to the community for support so she can bring her project to fruition in early August before the next school year begins!
Gilena's plan not only includes providing lockers for 60 students, but also additional storage space for staff- making a greater impact on our campus for our teachers as well!
