Portland, OR, August 8-10

The Godly Play Core Training is the recommended training for every adult leading or preparing to lead Godly Play sessions, for lay leaders, children, youth and family ministers, Christian formation directors, church administrators, chaplains, clergy, vestry members, parents, grandparents, and caregivers.
Over the course of three days, participants experience all aspects of the Godly Play method and begin to become fluent in the Christian language system, Godly Play core stories, and fundamental Godly Play practices. Additionally, Godly Play's guiding Theology of Childhood is introduced, so participants become more deeply connected to their work.
Core training follows an action/reflection model of learning with a mixture of trainer-led presentations and participant storytelling presentations. Core training plenary presentations cover: the Spirituality of the Child, the Godly Play Environment, and Being in Service to the Circle of Children.
Teaching Godly Play: How to Mentor the Spiritual Development of Children by Jerome Berryman is required reading, as this will serve as an ongoing resource to you as you build your Godly Play ministry.
