Important Project Update:
Thank you to the 134 contributors who have donated $44,916 to the Ogden Playground Renovation project so far. Part of these donations have paid to develop a design, shown below, to improve our playground and blacktop area. At this time, District 102 has asked our committee to pause solicitation of D102 families to fund construction of this design while they work with the community to develop a comprehensive facility improvement plan for all six D102 schools. The school board will review this plan in December, and it may lead to a referendum question on the April 2025 election ballot for funding.
Thanks to the efforts of our Playground Committee to raise awareness of the issue, basic improvements to the existing outdoor space at Ogden and other D102 schools are being considered for a portion of this plan. Should the school board choose to proceed and should the potential referendum in April be successful, we would be able to use our PTC funds to pursue the enhanced vision to expand the size of the playground and reimagine the blacktop area. To coordinate with the District’s potential facility improvements schedule, our team is now aiming to begin play space improvements in summer 2026.
Until the school board decides on a path forward in December, our committee will focus on business donations, foundation and government grants and community awareness. We will continue planning work on the improvements, seeking feedback and sharing updates as they develop.

Thank you for your interest in the Ogden Playground Renovation!
Did you know…
The current playground, at nearly 25 years old, is the oldest in District 102 and lacks certain accessibility features of more recently constructed playgrounds.
Our outside space is used by about 600 students daily. The school grounds are also the nearest public outdoor play space for hundreds of La Grange and La Grange Park families and receive a great deal of use outside of school hours keeping neighborhood kids active.
Durable playground equipment is costly, and installation can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars for a playground the size of our existing playground that can stand up to decades of heavy use.
The Ogden PTC Playground Renovation Committee is working hard on planning some awesome enhancements to our playground space, but we need your help to make the plan a reality.
Your donations will directly impact our children’s physical and mental health by providing meaningful playground enhancements, including but not limited to new playground equipment. Planning has started, and we need approximately $150,000 to start the first phase of our renovation project to replace worn out components on the existing play structure and blacktop. We will be fundraising over the coming year to put this plan into action subject to the achievement of our fundraising goals and input and approval of the school district.
All donations in the amount of $500 and greater will be formally recognized on a sign to be displayed permanently on the playground upon completion of the renovation and will be recognized in our PTC newsletter.
