STARFISH COLLECTION

The starfish collection is part of a coastal series inspired by my love of shell hunting.  I spent long hours at the beach  during the summer as a child watching my parents play volleyball with friends.  I would spend the whole day building sandcastles, splashing  in the tidepools, and collecting buckets full of shells. I geeked out over my shell treasures  and considered my  sizable shell collection that I mounted and labeled a prized possesion.  I even entered it into a science fair at school.  The starfish was  an elusive and much coveted item on my wish list but to this day I still have not ever found a starfish washed ashore. The starfish collection is a tribute to the empty slot in my childhood shell collection.  The starfish image in the bottom frame of my"Dream Big" illustration has been assigned a monetary value of $1000 of our fundraising goal.  Once the starfish funding goals have been met I will color in the  starfish in the outer frame of the illustration.
