Alice By Heart Audition information
Resume: Everyone auditioning AND Interviewing must submit a resume. Please see the attached template, save a copy and edit it to reflect your information. You MUST save your resume as either a Word document or a PDF using the following title format:
Firstname_Lastname_vDateMonthYear (For example: Shannon_Lindsay_v1AUG23)
There will be a spot on the application where you can upload your resume.
The Audition process is made up of 2 parts, the Vocal & Acting Auditions and the Dance Call.
Vocal & Acting Auditions
The Vocal & Acting Auditions will be performed at the same time. Actors will sign up for an audition time slot on either Tuesday or Friday. The Vocal portion will consist of a 30 second cut of their choice from “Down the Hole” to be sung unaccompanied. They will also have a range check and a test of tonal memory. For the Acting audition, actors will choose ONE selection from EACH of the THREE options provided:

A – Alice & Alfred
B – Alice & Alfred #2
C – Alice & White Rabbit
D – Alice & Cheshire Cat
OPTION 2 - Choose ONE
A – Dr. Butridge (Jabberwok) & Alice
B – Duchess Monologue
C – White Rabbit Monologue
OPTION 3 - Choose ONE
A – Dr. Butridge, Red Cross Nurse, Alice
B – Caterpillar, Caterpillar 2, Alice
C – Queen, King, Cheshire Cat, White Rabbit, Alice
D – Queen, King, Alice
Actors will enter the room, slate, and then they can choose whether to sing or act first. There will be Readers in the room to perform with. You will be performing for Mrs. Lindsay, Ms. Schuitema, and Ms. Laurel.
Slate: This is your introduction. Please slate with your name, Grade, and Characters you will be playing in the order you will be playing them. For example:
“Hi! I’m Shannon Lindsay and I’m in 12th grade. I’ll be performing Option 1-B as Alfred, Option 2-A as Jabberwok, and Option 3-D as Queen and singing from “Down the Hole.”
Dance Call
Everyone will attend the same dance call on Thursday, 11/14 from 4 pm-8 pm. Auditioners will sign in, receive a number (or if they performed on Tuesday, re-use their same number) and then proceed into the Black Box to learn the Choreography. You will have multiple opportunities to learn, rehearse, and perform for our choreographer, Ms. Laurel, and our Director, Mrs. Lindsay. The Dance Call is scheduled from 4 pm – 8 pm, but we may be done earlier. Please be sure to stay in touch with your ride in case we finish ahead of time.
