Celebrate Women and Girls in STEAM!
Nine years ago, the United Nations established the International Day of Women and Girls in Science to highlight the importance of gender equality in STEAM fields. While science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are crucial to global economies, gender disparities remain. Globally, only 33% of researchers and 35% of STEAM students are women. Additionally, experts predict that 80% of future jobs in the next five years have yet to be created.

Join us for an inspiring event in partnership with RAFT (Resource Area for Teaching). Girls will engage in hands-on science activities led by women working in STEAM careers, and Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors who have dedicated their Girl Scout experience to STEAM.

Registration is $20:

  • Girl Registration: Covers event supplies and a fun patch (pictured above). Girls will also complete parts of Girl Scout STEAM badges, with opportunities to complete their badges at home and purchase separately.
  • Adult Volunteer Registration: Includes a one-year RAFT membership ($25 value). Note: adult volunteers will be assigned chaperoning requirements during workshops, and must be registered volunteers with GSNorCal, be fingerprinted and have completed mandated reporter training.

Workshop Preferences:
Girls and Adult Volunteers indicate their badge workshop preferences during registration. Assignments are made on a "first come, first serve" basis and are subject to availability.

What to Bring:

  • Sack lunch
  • SWAPS to exchange with event attendees and female scientiest
  • Backpack to bring home materials and supplies
  • Refillable water bottle
