Have you heard the buzz? Cumberland Youth Cycling Development, a Carlisle-based nonprofit corporation and 501(c)(3), is working with the Borough of Carlisle to build a bicycle pumptrack in Valley Meadows Park (203 Meadow Blvd) adjacent to the parking lot for the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail Connector!
Our goal is to create a regionally significant facility that will serve the needs of the Carlisle community as well as complement the other tremendous cycling assets we have in the area--fantastic mountain biking, rail trail, gravel and road riding.
What is a pumptrack? In short, it is a self-contained bicycle circuit composed of banked turns and undulating mounds of dirt for riders of all skill levels to develop better bike handling skills and cardiovascular fitness, all while having a ton of fun!
The foundation of the track was completed in the fall of 2023 and will be substantially complete by the end of March 2024. Landscaping and amenities will be completed by early summer 2024, with a grand opening expected to occur mid-summer 2024.
Please consider a modest contribution to help us fund additional amenities, including maintenance / special event structure, signage, split-rail fence, benches and picnic tables, as well as a maintenance and insurance reserve.
We are so excited to bring this unique facility to the greater Carlisle community!
