Welcome to the 2024/2025 program year!

ALL CLASS REGISTRATIONS MUST ADD THE $35 REGISTRATION FEE TO THEIR CART - one per student for the year.

Please read all class descriptions carefully. We are unable to make adjustments once you have registered for a class. Before registering please read the Policies (attachments) and the Frequently Asked Questions below as you must sign off on them during registration.

Any questions can be emailed to LongValleyCare@gmail.com. If a class is full please do join the waitlist - some of our classes have the option of opening up a second class. HAVE FUN!

Most classes begin the FIRST FULL WEEK OF OCTOBER. There will be no class when Washington Township schools are closed for any reason.

LOCATIONS:

  • Kossmann Elementary (behind Flocktown Rd School)- 90 Flocktown Road
  • Cucinella Elementary - 470 Naughright Road
  • Old Farmers Elementary - 51 Old Farmers Road
  • Valley View Chapel - 115 E. Mill Road

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Can my child in aftercare participate? A: YES! Your child can participate. You'll just need to notify aftercare of the days/times your student is enrolled in a CARE class and give them permission to sign out for the class. NEW for this year: Aftercare students at Flocktown/Kossmann will not be walked to or from a class after 5pm.

Can my child stay after school for a class? A: No- with the exception of Old Farmers Elementary students who have a class starting at 3:15. Classes at other schools start roughly an hour after the end of school. Old Farmers administration will be given a list of students participating and they will reach out for appropriate permissions.

**Can my child who is homeschooled or goes to another district participate? **A: Yes! All area students are welcome to participate. Students can attend a class at any location, no matter what school they attend.

How many class sessions are there? A: Please read class descriptions carefully as these are outlined and are different for each class. For our full-year programs, which run October-April, there is not a "set" number of classes as we cannot account for every school-closure or days when the class space is utilized by a school function.

How are class fees and materials fees set and why is there a difference? A: The CARE Program is operated as a nonprofit arm of the Long Valley Junior Women's Club. The classes are intended to be an affordable alternative to enrichment classes offered in the area while also serving as a fundraiser for our community. Class fees are set by the program directors to offer a discount compared to other area programs. Some classes are able to be more discounted than others and classes that offer a smaller student:teacher ratio may be higher. The materials fees are set by the teacher and are specifically used to purchase books, supplies and end of the year items for the classes. All of our teachers are volunteering their time to lead classes, receiving only a small stipend to cover travel and class prep fees.

Can I teach a class, or refer a teacher? A: Yes please! We'd love to talk to you or anyone you know who would be interested in leading a class. Classes are outlined by the instructor and can be 45min - 1.5hrs and run 4-10 weeks. If you are passionate about something, why not share it! Instruction is volunteer based, with a small stipend to cover travel and planning. All supplies needed for classes will be covered.

Who do I contact if I have an issue? You can reach the program director, Amanda Janke, anytime by calling or texting (908)251-3662 or emailing LongValleyCare@gmail.com

Can my student make up a missed class due to illness? A: In most cases we do not have the ability to make up a class - as we have only one class running for most curriculums. If there is an alternate day/time for your student's class, you may work out with the instructor directly whether a make-up is available.

How will I know if class is canceled and will those classes be made up? A: We will email parents if a class is canceled - due to teacher illness, weather closure or class space not being available due to a school function. We will give as much advance notice but it would be good to check emails before coming to class in case of an emergency cancellation. We will make up classes if space is available to do so, but we do not guarantee makeups (unfortunate lesson learned with COVID).

Do you offer refunds? A: The short answer is "No". As a volunteer based program, we don't have the systems in place nor enough people to manage a significant amount of refunds. For this reason we ask that you read class descriptions, days and times carefully before registering. If an exception is made for an extenuating circumstance, please know that we cannot refund registration or materials fees.

Are there need-based opportunities for reduced tuition? A: YES! Part of the mission of the Long Valley Junior Women's Club and CARE is to support local families in need. You may reach out any time to privatly discuss your situation. We also offer a free class to program volunteers if you are interested.
