Join us in supporting our neighborhood public schools and the 2nd annual Back to Public School Bash at Fire Station Community Center on Saturday, August 10th 10AM - 1 PM.
We believe supporting public schools is a shared responsibility across our community. This is why we are planning our
2nd annual event bringing together families and supporters of five area schools—Daggett Elementary, Daggett Montessori, De Zavala
Elementary, Lily B. Clayton Elementary, and Daggett Middle School—for an end-of-summer celebration that will also serve as a
fundraiser to help the PTAs at all of these schools start the school year off on the right foot.
An active PTA is a powerful driver of
family engagement, which directly correlates with student achievement ( source ). However, with up to 90% of students at some of
our FWISD neighborhood schools qualifying for free and reduced lunch ( source ), PTA fundraising aimed at the individual school
community often doesn’t allow our schools to reach their potential. We’re excited for this chance to pool our community resources
and build solidarity among PTAs of different sizes and with different financial resources. Last year, the funds raised for the Bash accounted for over 20% of the annual revenue for some of our PTAs. Your support can help! Funds raised through your donations will help offset the costs of the event (which is free for families) and the remaining funds shared amoungst the PTAs and be used throughout the year to support all students.
The Back to Public School Bash event will feature activities for children and free food
for families, as well as information booths for local resources, a school uniform swap, book swap, free hair cuts, and opportunities to network and get involved with each of the school's PTAs. If you are unable to donation finanically, please consider donating gently used FWISD uniforms or children's books for our free uniform and book swap. Donations can be dropped off all summer and the day of the event at Fire Station Community Center.
It takes a village and we're so thankful for support of our Near Southside community!
