Artist Workshop Retreat

October 21st, 2023: 9am - 4pm is a One day Artist Retreat full of workshops to recharge your creative battery! This is an in person event that will be held at the Oxford Municipal Building, 11 Green St., Oxford, NJ 07863 and is open to members of Warren County ARTS and non-members alike. Each workshop is limited to 15 students. Register for the full day and pick which of the two workshops you want to attend in the morning and which of the 2 workshops in the afternoon. The workshop fee includes continental breakfast and lunch (catered by Lost Ladies Cafe) and most supplies. Please check the detailed workshop description for list of required materials you may need to bring. $50 for the full day if you are a member of Warren County ARTS or $75 if you are a non-member!! What a deal!!


Pick one of the morning workshops:
#1: Michael McFadden - Collage as a tool of discovery. In this workshop you will follow the process that Michael uses to create his collages using a step by step process of image making without predetermining the results. Discovery is valued above planning. Materials to bring include: pencils (2B & heavier), 9x12" Sketchbook paper or mixed media paper (65 lb or heavier), Watercolor paper Black ink, brushes, watercolor set, scissors & UHU glue stick.

#2 Colleen Puglia - Enameling. Learn how to use a butane torch to fire enamel. Go home with a fun & colorful crackle enamel pendant necklace. All supplies are provided. Students asked to bring eye protection, dust mask & Hair tie if you have long hair>


Pick one of the afternoon workshops:
#3 Carl Ohlson - Watercolor / Pen & Ink Students will go home with 4 completed paintings which use various different watercolor techniques combined with Pen & Ink. Materials to bring include: 2 watercolor brushes (a small round and a medium/large round) and a pencil. All other materials will be provided.


OR
#4 William Martin; Painting with design, color & values. This workshop includes lecture & hands on workshop that will include the following topics: The Value scale, Hue vs value, and Designing a painting, Topics are suitable to acrylics and oils. A hands on demo using the topics discussed will be created. Materials to bring include a set of either acyrlic or oil paints in various colors, palette, brushes and canvas paper or other painting surface.
